We are always looking for energetic and motivated staff to work on our various teams: business, finance, technical and journalism. Staff normally work at OSPL for a minimum of one term, although some have gone on to remain with company for over three years. Thus, commitment is generally down to you. Positions such as Managing Director and Business Manager are typically offered on the basis that staff will remain involved for more than one term, although this is not strictly necessary.

Most business staff start their careers at OSPL as Business Executives. Here you will typically begin with local advertising. Due to the high turnover typical of any student company, opportunities always develop quickly. Business Managers coordinate advertising and have primary responsbility for raising OSPL's revenue.

Finance staff can expect to learn core skills in ledger-keeping, debt-collection and accountancy. Staff begin as Finance Executives, and if they show enthusiasm and capability can rise to Finance Director, with overall responsibility for OSPL's finances.

Technical staff are OSPL's prize assets. With constant maintenance issues and longer-term projects, technical staff at OSPL will be given the responsibility to shine and develop their communication, creativity, and team-working skills. Technical expertise is not imperative, but is certainly useful.

Journalistic staff are the soul of OSPL. Without them, OSPL ceases to have a purpose. The peak of the OSPL journalistic ladder is being Editor for one of its four main publications: Cherwell, The ISIS, Cherwell24 and etcetera. Staff begin as contributors and can quickly become deputy section editors. Positions are generally held for one term (including Editor). Former Editors have frequently gone on to hold Board positions as Directors.

The Board of Directors is typically made up of former Editors, Managing Directors, Business Managers and Finance Managers. It meets weekly to discuss crucial aspects of OSPL's day-to-day life and in particular focus on its longer-term issues.
